Mold inspection & testing for families and nurseries
A new baby brings enough questions. Your home shouldn't be one more unanswered concern.
Whether you're preparing a nursery, moving with young children, or wondering about a musty smell or past leak, MOLD Rx helps you understand the conditions in your home and decide what to do next.
Based in Redwood City. Serving San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz counties.
Start with what you've noticed
You don't need to know whether it's mold before you call.
Tell us what you've seen, smelled, or learned about the property. During a pre-inspection discussion, we'll offer an honest opinion about whether an inspection or testing would be useful and what an appropriate scope might include.
Preparing a nursery
A room has a lingering odor, staining, condensation, or a history of water damage. You want to understand the issue before setting up the space.
Moving with your family
You're settling into a home and have questions about a past leak, suspicious growth, or moisture conditions that weren't explained.
A concern that keeps returning
A musty smell or stain comes back after cleaning or repairs. You want help investigating the underlying moisture conditions.
Investigation before assumptions
An inspection looks beyond a test result.
A useful assessment connects the property's history, visible conditions, moisture findings, and any appropriate laboratory results. A sample alone doesn't explain why a problem is happening.
MOLD Rx does not perform remediation or sell repair work. Our role is to document findings and help you understand the conditions observed.
Learn about MOLD Rx and our experience →What the process can include
1. Discuss your concern. Share the room involved, what you've noticed, and any known leak or repair history.
2. Investigate the property. The agreed scope may include a visual inspection, moisture investigation, and air or surface sampling where it can answer a useful question.
3. Understand the findings. Receive documented observations and, when samples are collected, accredited laboratory results interpreted alongside the inspection conditions.
4. Plan your next step. Understand which findings warrant attention and where further investigation or qualified repair work may be appropriate.

Mold, a new baby, and your home: where to start

Should every nursery be tested for mold?
A new baby alone does not mean a room needs mold sampling. A musty odor, visible growth, water staining, or a known leak gives an inspection a specific question to investigate. Testing should have a clear purpose rather than be an automatic package.
Do I need testing if I can already see mold?
Not always. EPA guidance says sampling is usually unnecessary when visible mold is present. Identifying and addressing the moisture source remains essential. An inspection may still help assess the observed conditions and whether further investigation is warranted. Read EPA's mold-testing guidance.
Can a mold test tell me a room is safe for my newborn?
A mold test cannot certify a room as medically safe or predict an individual child's response. There are no federal limits for mold or mold spores. Findings need context, and an inspection is not a medical evaluation. Ask your pediatrician about your child's health or symptoms.
What if the room smells musty but I don't see mold?
A musty odor is worth discussing, but it does not identify the source by itself. Share when the odor occurs, where it is strongest, and any history of leaks or dampness. Moisture investigation can help determine whether additional assessment is appropriate.
How much does an inspection cost?
MOLD Rx inspections start at $350. The quote depends on property size, the inspection scope, and sampling needs. Contact us to discuss your situation and clarify the scope and cost, including any laboratory analysis, before scheduling.
